Leveling the Playing Field
Classworks joins Peachcrest Elementary School (Dekalb County Schools, GA) Principal, Dr. Sheila Nelloms, to talk about the importance of using their NWEA data with Classworks instruction to prepare students for end-of-grade testing and level the playing field, giving all students the opportunity to succeed.
A Decade with Classworks
Tallapoosa County Schools (AL) Superintendent, Joe Windle, celebrates a 10-year partnership with Classworks! As a veteran user, hear his take on the factors that lead to longtime success with instructional technology, and how they’ve created buy-in from the educators, students, and community.
Classworks added North Carolina’s NC Check-In interim assessments and LinkIt! Benchmark assessments to the long list of high-quality assessments we work with. Helping teachers to put assessment data to work for every student is the heart of the Classworks program. We are excited to continue adding new assessment integrations, reducing the testing burden for students. Less testing. More learning!
In 2019, Classworks added five new efficacy studies, building one of the most substantial portfolios of evidence showing the tremendous impact Classworks has on student growth! One study reveals that students who used Classworks exceeded the growth norms of three highly-regarded assessments and outperformed their peers in reading and math across multiple grades.

Classworks received high praise from CASE and NCII in 2019. The Classworks Universal Screener assessment received near-perfect ratings for reliability and validity from the National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII). In addition, The Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) has officially re-endorsed Classworks special education resources including screening, assessment, instruction, and Progress Monitoring tools.
Building a vision for what success looks like with your intervention program is vital to any implementation. School and district leaders must create the plan for when, how and why a program is used and build buy-in and accountability. This was an area that we felt was missing in our professional learning prompting our release of the Smartguide course and in-person workshop, Set the Vision for Classworks Success. After participating in these workshops administrators have a better understanding of how to lead the way to a successful implementation.
Transform Tier One Learning with Classroom Reading and Math, includes videos and lesson-planning support to help teachers use Classworks Classroom Reading and Math instruction. The differentiated math problem-solving activities and close reading passages are the perfect support to help students master grade-level standards and achieve success on their end of grade assessments.
Finally, we added a series of whitepapers, videos, and checklists outlining best practices for implementing Classworks online tiered intervention in elementary, middle, and high schools.
"It’s exciting to see the success schools and districts experience implementing Classworks as part of their intervention program. In 2019, we added two new online Smartguide online courses to our robust library of certificate courses. We also added several new on-demand resources, including a seven-episode web series about RTI, a whitepaper to help educators implement Progress Monitoring in the response to intervention environment, a guide to help rural school districts with their turnaround strategies, and much more.
We look forward to adding more professional learning offerings this year and continuing to support you as partners in your students’ path towards excellence!”
